Some Updates On My Goals

On a previous post, I went into details about goals I have for my life. I am creating an action plan to get these goals accomplished. I have made improvements and started accomplishing some of my goals already. First of all, I have started a Facebook group and we have a plan of reading the Bible from front to back, cover to cover in the next 3 years. If you want to join us then you can request an invite to the group here. We have named this page the "3 Year Biblical Mission".

In other news I have made strides to increase my productivity when I'm in the office. The reality is I have been at a financially comfortable place for far too long. Now I'm stepping it up and I have a small group of friends that are also stepping it up with me. My ultimate goal is to be a part of a prestigious group that markets our products, yet they are doing it in a way that is getting incredible results. In fact, I would bet they are creating more success than nearly any other home business ever has in history. I'm measuring this based off of how fast average people are making "real" incomes.

However, it is currently closed and I'm waiting for the group to open up so I can get an invitation and apply. I believe this will help me explode my productive and increase my focus. Plus it never hurts to become accountable to another group. You can see what this group is doing here.

Our lives are short. Most people spend their whole life thinking about what they want to do one day? Or what they are going to do when they retire, or win the lottery. If we just sit around and wait for the right time or the right day it will never happen. If we don't think we have enough money go out and make more of it. Money is easy to make, that is the first thing I had to realize. When I realized this it transformed my life. Now with a new vision and a new set of goals I'm going to transform my life for myself and my family even more. If you have not figured out an easier way to make money yet then you need to contact me here.

Late night post from the beach

As I write this I'm on the coast of South Carolina at an ocean front hotel. I have enjoyed a great day with my Bride, son, and mother in law. Today we played in the waves, swam in the pool, had a great seafood feast for dinner and I'm currently finishing a great cigar; all day I have been preparing for this coming week mentally. It's a very exciting week to come with lots of anticipation. I plan to keep you update with this blog as I work towards the goals in my previous post. I have a plan of action that will allow me to start accomplishing them right away. Honestly this excitement is matched with as much anxiety because I am about to make very large sweeping changes in my life. Mostly in the area of time management and my schedule.

I have spent the past several years of my life working part time and earning a very comfortable income. However, now I'm planning to step it up in order to get all of my goals in my previous blog post accomplished on time and some of them ahead of schedule. I have fitness goals, spiritual goals, family goals, and financial goals. To focus on them all cumulatively will take solid focus and commitment.

The first part of my plan is to get up each morning by 6:30 am, I haven't EVER consistently gotten up that early since I stopped working as a nurse 8 years ago. Getting up this early will give me enough time to work out, shower, eat breakfast, and read my bible before starting work at 9 am. It's exciting having a plan, I will be challenged putting it in action, but rewarded well for accomplishing it. No matter how I adjust my schedule I can't help but be thankful for the life I live. Who else gets to work at something that corporate America would only pay me minimum wage to do; yet working for myself I'm able to earn 100s of 1000s of dollars annually part time. Frankly I haven't figured out why the whole dang world isn't doing this. Oh well off to bed because I'm going to have another exciting day tomorrow. Monday, will be here soon enough but I'm so looking forward to it.

P.S. We are interviewing for a couple of "work from home" postions right now, apply here.

Work From Home Goals

Goals

-          1 year complete 3 rounds of P90X.

o   So far completed round 1 with two more rounds to go. I plan to have these round completed by December 31st.

-          1 year, Rent a vacation house for one month at Outerbanks of North Carolina.

o   $8,000  estimate, originally from North Carolina I really appreciate that state and it’s coastline. I like to solitude of the outerbanks and would love to vacation there. Maybe something like this >> http://www.vrbo.com/347617 We would probably go in the Fall because it’s a great time to fish and the water can still be warm.

-          1 year, Rent a vacation house in Texas for one month.

o   $8,000 estimate, we have some friends in Texas we would love to be able to spend time with them. Renting a nice home with a pool would be a great to enjoy our privacy and visit our friends as well. I will have a place I can still work part time since I only need a telephone and an internet connection to grow our business. Here is an example of a home we might rent >> http://www.vrbo.com/452634

-          1 year, Have a second child.

o   As they say practice makes perfect and we are nearly perfect by now J

-          3 years complete 5 rounds of P90X.

o   Should be closer to 18 months or two years with my travel schedule but I plan to complete 5 total rounds of P90X. I travel often so I don’t get to work out straight for 90 days. I just choose to work out when I’m at home. Fitness like success is a marathon  not a sprint.

-          3 years Rent a vacation house in Florida Keys for one month

o   $8,000 estimate, I have traveled all over the world yet I have not ever been to the Florida Keys. I would love to rent a pool home there enjoy the Keys, do some fishing have all month to leisurely explore this great place in our country. Something like this would do nicely >> http://www.vrbo.com/314995
-          3 years Learn to Power Paraglide

o   $15,000 Estimate, I researched this once. If you don’t know what powered paragliding is watch this video >>  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlbQ0xbbpOQ. I researched good lessons and equipment several years ago. That’s how I came to my estimate. This is one of those things that I have been fascinated ever since seeing it on an episode of McGyver when I was a kid. It’s the closest thing humans can do to experience the true freedom of flight. I have now finally put this on my goal list and I will get it accomplished. I promised my wife I would pay off our mortgage first.

-          3 years Pay  off our Mortgage

o   $119,000 this will most likely occur in two years. I have learned real wealth is gained once you have your mortgage paid off. You have security that you will never lose your home as long as your taxes are paid and you can use that mortgage payment to help pick up rental property faster allowing you to produce a passive income. A passive  income stream where you own the underlying asset thus are able to control the income stream. It’s not a passive income from dividends or royalty overrides where that income stream can be changed or lost much easier to things that are out of your control.

-          3 years Buy first rental property

o   $100,000, I will probably be buying rentals that are less than $100,000 but the market could always change in 3 years so we will have to see. This is a conservative estimate.

-          3 years Raise up 5 Six Figure Income earners in one year.

o   I have earned comfortable Six Figure income $100,000+ per year and have taught many people over the years to do the same thing. However, I want to purposely raise up 5 people who go onto earn at least $100,000 their first time working from home. I want them to be able to do it part time as well.

-          3 years, Read the bible all the way through cover to cover.

o   This has been a goal of mine since I was a teenager and I have given every excuse on why it has never occurred. The real reason it hasn’t occurred since then is because I haven’t made it a high enough priority. That will change starting now. In 3 years I will have read the Bible cover to cover. One of my inspirations for this are 3 young men that are all brothers. Each one of them by 18 years old had read the Bible completely through. Cabe, was first he had it read by 18 years old. Roman, his younger brother had it read by 16. Micah, the youngest finished it by 14 years old. If these young men can do it anyone can.

-          3 years, Play in a poker tournament with a 1 million dollar plus prize pool.

o   I have played poker off and on for many years. It’s a past time that I really enjoy. However, I usually play small stakes poker and low buy in tournaments. I really want to play in a very large poker tournament something that offers a prize pool of 1 million dollars or more. It isn’t even as much about winning as it is just playing in it. Of course I’m not going to play if I don’t plan to do my very best to win ;).

-          5 years Go to Bora Bora for 12 days total

o   $20,000 estimate, this estimate comes from the trip we took there back in 2007. However, we used our Coastal Travel package back then and saved about $10,000 back then. That vendor has since been replaced and I don’t know what discounts if any the new vendor will be able to provide to us. I’m planning on going with or without any form of discount. The reason we are staying for 12 days is because that includes all of the travel time plus we would like to stay in Tahiti for a night or two and visit one of the other islands for a night or two maybe Moorea. We want to have a good 7 days staying at the Bora Bora Nui. www.boraboranui.com. We stayed there last time in the overwater bungalows it was incredible so we plan to go back.

-          5 years Eat at every Prime Steakhouse in Atlanta

o   $6,000 estimate, I think there are currently about 20 prime steak houses in and around the Atlanta area. On average for my wife and I to eat a meal it would cost us between $200 to $300 per meal. That’s how I came up with the $6,000 estimate. We have been to 3 of them already. We love fine dining, and Prime Steak is one of my most favorite foods on the planet. Ruth’s Chis ( www.ruthschris.com ) is always a good franchise that serves Prime steaks but I also like the independent steak houses too. Rathbun’s ( www.kevinrathbunsteak.com ) is one we have been to.

-          5 years give $100,000  to feed orphans and rescue children from the sex trade in one year.

o   We already tithe 10% of our income to these causes. In 5 years $100,000 will likely be more than our tithe amount however, we will still do our part to help those will may never have a shot to start a business and change their lives in the way that we have.

-          5 years, Raise up 10 Six Figure Income earners in one year.

o   I of course am stepping up the ante on this one. These are the people that are like minded, the kind of people you vacation with, work together, raise families together, and build business together.

-          5 years, Watch the Olympics in person.

o   As a kid I have always watched the Olympics and probably like most people I would watch sporting events I never watched any other time during Olympic season. Something about watching humans push themselves and their bodies to their physical limits. Watching the absolute best athletes in the world at the top of their game. I have always thought it would be great to watch the Olympics in person. It seems like 2016 will be it.

-          10 years buy a house in Nicaragua.

o   I don’t know if Nicaragua is the place but I do want to buy an international property that can double as a vacation rental. I have been to Nicaragua Twice in the past year and a half or so and I’m about to go for a 3rd time. It’s a great country with lots to like. If I was buying a house today it would be in Nicaragua. Again it’s hard to say how much this will costs as I’m not even sure which country I would buy in yet.

-          10 years, Raise up one Millionaire (after I become a millionaire).

o   I don’t believe you have the authority to teach something you haven’t been able to accomplish yourself. With that being said, I want to raise up at least one person who becomes a Millionaire in the next 10 years.

-          10 years Take an around the world cruise.

o   $100,000 Estimate, I need to research exactly which cruise line I would like to travel with but prices range from $15,000 up to $150,000. I know that I would not want to be in a base cabin for that long. We would probably choose some sort of a suite. Again not sure how accurate $100,000 is but it would at least be around there.

-          10 years Charter a luxury Yacht for a vacation for at least a week.

o   $50,000 the ultimate in ocean travel. Something like this would be what I’m looking for >> http://www.charterworld.com/index.html?sub=yacht-charter&charter=mylor-2817. I know at this point I have seen luxury yacht charters through private owners for about $25,000 however, 10 years from now $50,000 may be a bargain so I will leave my estimate at $50,000 for now.

-          10 years Charter a private jet, for a get away weekend with Carmen.

o   $25,000, now I have previously priced chartering private jets with www.bluestarjets.com. However, their base membership is $50,000 depending on my travel needs I would be willing to look at something like that however, I don’t believe I can justify the expense simply because that would be additional income that could be going to charitable causes that we support. As bad as I think the commercial flight experience is. I would reserve the ability to charter a private jet for extremely rare occasions. Either way I should be able to charter a jet to meet our needs for at least $25,000.

-          10 years earning $10,000 a month in rental income

o   $1 million dollars in real estate is about what it should take and it may take considerably less just depending on how good the real estate deals are
that I can find.

-          10 years, Buy Carmen a convertible of her choice.

o   $80,000, before we were married my bride had bought a BMW Z4 and put half of the  money down for it. Then when we got married we were working to pay off debt as fast as we could. I proposed that she sale her BMW because it was basically at that time all the debt we owed. After a couple of weeks she agreed to it. She sold it and we were instantly out of debt. I promised her when we crossed over a million dollar net worth I would buy her any convertible she wants.

-          10 years, Become a millionaire.

o   Being fairly liquid not having it all tied up in hard assets like real estate. Being liquid is important to me so that we can take advantage of financial opportunities as they come up. What does it matter if you are worth a million dollars if you can’t ever touch it or access it very easily?

-          10 years stay at a Las Vegas penthouse suite for the weekend

o   $30,000 estimate. This is one of those crazy things I have just always wanted to do it for no other reason than to experience it. It’s really no different than why I want to charter a jet and a yacht at some point. Listen growing up without very much in life I have always been fascinated by a lifestyle I could never choose to experience. This is exactly what this goal is all about. I can never imagine going to Vegas on any old vacation and spending the 10s of thousands it would cost for a single night in a penthouse suite on the strip. However, I do want to do it at least once in my life. 10 years from nowI will have the disposable income to do it. Here is a good article talking about some of different suites and their prices with pictures >> http://www.dealbase.com/blog/top-10-luxury-suites-in-las-vegas-where-the-high-rollers-stay/

-          20 years Give $1 million to feed orphans and rescue children from the sex trade in one year.

o   Again this will probably be more than our tithe but in 20 years we should have the disposable income to do this.

-          20 years, Raise up 5 Millionaires.

o   Again we up the ante on this one. Why not? My greatest motivation in life is seeing other people overcome bad circumstances just like myself. Some of them have circumstances worse than mine, and some will go on to accomplish even more than I will. However, knowing I had a small tiny part to play is extremely gratifying.

-          20 years, Start and fund a nonprofit that provides wishes for terminal kids.

o    Ever since I was a Oncology (Cancer) Nurse I have wanted to find a way to improve the quality of life for Cancer patients. I never worked with kids, I just didn’t think I could work with terminal kids. It’s just too heartbreaking. But I would love to do something like the make a wish foundation and help more kids have their wishes come true.

-          20 years buy a house on the Outer banks of North Carolina.

o   I have often said I would never want to buy a house on the coast out of fear of flooding or storm damage. However, if it’s your vacation home and not your primary house then who cares? I don’t mean to make light of losing a second home, but life is too worried to forsake a goal or dream because you are worried about storms. Worst case scenario you lose the home one day, at least you owned it for a few years and were able to make some great family memories. I have no  idea what home prices will be by then but will by then but I will keep an eye on them as the goal deadline gets closer.
