Designing Your Life...

Part of learning to become an entrepreneur occurs in stages. Often times the skills that you learn to help you earn your first $10,000 are the exact same skills that will get you to $50,000. The only difference is in order to get to $50,000 you have to develop those skills a little more. I see this occurring in my life all the time. Right after I started working from home, I had heard that you needed to "design your life". Basically this was an exercise I went through where you had to make a list of all the things you wanted to accomplish in your life. This was a comprehensive list covering, travel goals, spiritual goals, family goals, financial goals, etc. Then you were suppose to go down the list of each goal and write 1year, 3 years, 5 years, 10 years, or 20 years. The idea being that you are putting a date to your goals and you are suppose to follow through with those goals and accomplish them.

Now I have done this exercise many times over the years. In fact it was this exercise that gave me the vision that only through starting a business of my own could I earn enough extra income to accomplish even some of my basic goals. More recently, after doing this same exercise again I realized that I have NOT followed through completely on these goals. I got convicted when I wrote down something that has probably been on every list I have ever made like this and I have yet to do it and there is no reason I have not made a plan to get it accomplished. I want to learn to Power Paraglide.

So I decided I'm going to redo this exercise on my own. I'm going to be as complete and details with it as I can and I'm going to keep these goals in front of me and create a plan to follow through with each one of them. I'm going to maximize this exercise to it's fullest. I will constantly update this list and monitor my progress on at least a monthly basis. In my next blog post I will share what my goals are right now. I keep adding knew ones to the list right now. I have a word document and with all of them but in the next few days I will get them added to this blog.
